On April 24, 2023, the Mayor and City Commission approved the Georgia Department of Transportation Investment Act – South Gaskin Avenue Project. The City Manager met with George Washington Carver Shopping Center property owners to discuss the improvement project on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
The project includes repair of any broken sidewalks, new sidewalks from Walmart to Pinecrest, and landscaping/beautification of the 900 S. Gaskin Avenue block. Improvements at George Washington Carver Shopping Center will include repairing sidewalks, planters (plants & water), new decorative street lights, benches with protective bollards, and alleyway water/sewer/stormwater improvements.
The project is tentatively scheduled to begin the fourth week in June (after Juneteenth Celebrations).
