Join Keep Douglas Beautiful for the Greatest American Cleanup on April KDB - Great American Cleanup 2026 (2)18, 2026!

The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee and the City of Douglas invite all citizens to take part in the 2026 Greatest American Cleanup on Saturday, April 18, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Volunteers will help beautify our community by picking up litter and debris along city streets. This is a perfect opportunity for clubs, organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals to give back, earn community service hours, and help keep Douglas beautiful.

Participants should arrive at City Hall (302 S. Madison Avenue) between 8:45 AM and 9:00 AM to register. After check‑in, volunteers will be assigned cleanup locations based on the annual Litter Index. Cleanup efforts will run from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

According to Keep Georgia Beautiful (KGB), in 2025, more than 18,000 volunteers from 47 communities participated in 1,182 cleanup events. Together, they cleaned 2,463 miles of streets, roadsides, and waterways; cleared 1,925 acres of parks and green spaces; and collected 508,958 pounds of litter. Volunteers also recycled over 1.7 million pounds of materials—including hard‑to‑recycle items, household hazardous waste, and more than 316 tons of tires—and planted 5,154 trees, flowers, and shrubs.
