[ARCHIVED] Public Notice -To review amendments to the City of Douglas ULDC (Zoning Ordinance)

Public Hearing - ULDC Ordinance (Updated)

Notice is hereby given that the amendments herein captioned will be review and read for the first time at a regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the City of Douglas, Georgia, on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the CE Weir Center, located at 307 E. Bryan Street, Douglas, Georgia.

The following are the amendments to be reviewed:

#1        Section 11-371 – Types of signs permitted.

Delete (a) (1) in its entirety and replace it with the following:

  1. (1) All freestanding signs shall be wood, metal, or composite material supported by one or two wood or composite posts, with the top edge of the sign no more than 48 feet above the finished grade and shall contain post caps or covers.

#2        Section 111-375 – Design standard matrix.

Amend the Design standard matrix for signs in C-G, C-W, M-1, and M-2 zoning districts.

#3        Section 111-379. – Removal and disposition of signs.

            Delete (4) a.  in its entirety and replace it with the following:

(4) a. All signs must be maintained in good structural condition at all times.  All signs must be neatly painted, including all metal parts and supports that are not galvanized or of rust-resistant metal. All signs must be free from rust or holes on or in the sign or sign structure; broken, missing, loose, or bent parts; faded or flaking paint; nonoperative or partially nonoperative.

This amendment will be read for the second time followed by a public hearing on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 6 PM at the CE Weir Center, located at 307 E. Bryan Street, Douglas, Georgia.  After the public hearing, the ordinance will be voted upon at the regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the City of Douglas, Georgia.  Anyone interested in said ordinance should be in appearance at the said meeting on the above-stated dates.
