My gas bill is higher than I expected. How can I make sure it is correct?: Call the Natural Gas Department at (912) 389-3427. We will send out a technician to re-read your gas meter. We will then print out your gas bill history to see if your usage has been at a consistent level over the past several years. We also offer an energy study of your home to see how you can heat more effectively.

1. I would like to have natural gas heat in my home. How do I find out if natural gas service is available on my street?: Call the City of Douglas Natural Gas Department at (912) 389-3427 and give us your name, address, and telephone number. We will then check our system and send a technician to your address to determine if natural gas service is available. Natural Gas Department

3. Do I need to call the Natural Gas Department before I do any type of digging or overhead work?: Yes! Calling before you dig keeps you out of trouble with the law and with your neighbor by preventing the possibility of causing a power outage when you hit a buried utility line. Georgia law requires that anyone digging in Georgia contact the Georgia Utilities Protection Center at (800) 282-7400 three days before construction begins.
