[ARCHIVED] FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS CHRISTMAS PARADE THEME

The City of Douglas announces the theme for this year’s Festival of Lights Christmas Parade. The theme will be “Celebrate A Hometown Christmas.” The annual parade will be on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.

“Douglas is a great hometown and we have a lot to be proud of,” says Georgia Henderson, Central Services Director. “We encourage entries to focus their floats on things that are unique to our hometown, whether it’s a resident, dignitary, band, non-profit group or business. Now in its 49th year, the Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade started out as a small community event and has grown to be one of the largest nighttime parades in Southeast Georgia.”

Held on Saturday, December 1, 2012, the parade begins at 6:30pm on Peterson Avenue, with lineup beginning from the First United Methodist Church to Walker Street. Applications are available at the City of Douglas Central Services Department, located at 200 S. Madison Avenue. The primary mission of the Annual Festival of Lights Parade is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and quality family environment, in and on the streets of Douglas.
