The City of Douglas is proud to announce that County Commissioner Earl Brice will be serving as Parade Marshal for this year’s Festival of Lights Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1st.
Brice came to Douglas in 1963 and began working with Brooks Auto Parts and retired from Brooks Auto Parts in 1988 as President of the company. He campaigned in early 1996 to fill the unexpired term of Thurston Paulk as County Commissioner. He has served as County Commissioner for Coffee County for the last 16 years. Brice has served as President of the South Georgia College Foundation, President of the Douglas Rotary Club and President of the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce as well as being very active in the Economic Development Authority. He has served on numerous boards as well. To name a few: Satilla Community Service Board, ACCG-GHBP Board, and the Ameris Bank Board. Brice served two years on the Board of Managers of Association County Commissioners of Georgia as President of the ACCG-Group Health Benefits Program. He has been very active in the First United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Council and teaching Sunday School for more than 35 years. Brice has a wife (Mary), three children, and six grandchildren.
The Festival of Lights Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 1st beginning at 6:30 p.m. The theme is “Celebrate A Hometown Christmas” Sponsors of the Festival of Lights Christmas Parade include the City of Douglas Commission, the Coffee County Commission, and the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber & Economic Development Authority.
