The City of Douglas is excited to announce that it will host two open house events in May to showcase the renovated Barracks #5 at Airport Circle on the historic World War II Army-Air Force Flight Training Air Base. These open houses are scheduled for May 10 from 9 AM to 1 PM and May 24 from 1 PM to 4 PM. Barracks #5 played a significant role in the Air Base's history as it provided housing for the cadets who trained at the base from 1941 to 1945 before transferring to other bases to continue their flight training.
Other upcoming open house dates are June 5 (9 AM-1 PM), and June 28 (1 PM-4 PM). The open house is free of charge. For more information about the historic airbase or preservation efforts, please call Community Development at (912) 383-0277.)
