[ARCHIVED] Coffee County Leaders Meet to Review Draft Joint Disaster Recovery Plan

Joint Disaster Recovery Plan Meeting 01-13-2026 (1)

City and county leaders from across Coffee County met on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, to review a preliminary draft of the Joint Douglas-Coffee County Disaster Recovery Plan. The meeting marked an important step toward coordinated disaster recovery planning following recent emergency response and resilience efforts.

The session focused on previewing the draft plan and ensuring alignment among participating jurisdictions and recovery partners. The plan is intended to guide long-term recovery efforts, clarify roles and responsibilities, and strengthen coordination among local, state, and federal agencies in the event of future disasters.  A draft of the Disaster Recovery Plan will be shared in the coming weeks with community partners who previously participated in stakeholder meetings. Feedback from these partners will help refine the plan before it moves toward final adoption.

In attendance were elected officials and staff from the City of Douglas and Coffee County as well as the cities of Ambrose, Broxton, and Nicholls, along with representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and consulting partners Cadmus-Jacobs. The meeting emphasized regional collaboration and shared preparedness goals.  Local leaders expressed appreciation for the continued partnership among municipalities, agencies, and technical experts, noting that proactive planning is essential to building a more resilient Coffee County.
