To celebrate Georgia Cities Week and its “Love Your City” theme, the City of Douglas Public Information Office is hosting a community-wide Photo Contest for photographers. City of Douglas Facebook and Instagram followers will serve as judges by voting on the photos on the city’s Facebook and Instagram pages, (Facebook @cityofdouglasgagovernment and Instagram @cityofdouglasgagov), from April 20 through April 25, 2026, 5 p.m.

The photo contest rules are as follows:

  • Participants must be at least 13 years old. Entrants under 18 must include a parent or legal guardian’s signature. Photos must be taken within the City of Douglas.
  • Each entry must include a completed and signed entry form. Submit one entry and one high‑resolution JPEG/PNG image per photo via email to info@cityofdouglasga.gov. To ensure your photo was received, look for an email confirmation or call (912) 383-0277. The city is not responsible for photos not received or stuck in junk mail.
  • Any entry may be disqualified for failure to follow contest rules.
  • No AI generated photos will be allowed.
  • Entry categories are: Planes & Trains (and other transportation in the city), Paws & Claws (for animal lovers), Trees & Bees (nature & natural wonders), Faces & Places (historic buildings, holiday photos, potential film/movie or commercial locations in the city)
  • Photos must be free of any third‑party restrictions. Photos showing identifiable individuals must include a signed release form (available on the city website).
  • No identifiable logos or watermarks should be included on the submitted photo.
  • Contestants are encouraged to share their submitted photos on personal social media platforms; however, they may not reveal or identify which photo in the contest belongs to them. If it is found that a contestant has identified their photo, that photo will be disqualified. Votes will be counted on the original post on the city’s Facebook or Instagram page, so be sure to let your friends/followers know to vote on the original post.
  • Contestants grant the City of Douglas and contest sponsors permission to publish, use, reproduce, distribute, and display submitted photos, and to create derivative works, in perpetuity and without compensation, in any print, online, or promotional materials.
  • Photographers will be credited when possible.
  • Photos must be appropriate for public viewing; entries with obscene, offensive, or provocative content will be disqualified.
  • Entries may be emailed to info@cityofdouglasga.gov before Friday, April 17, 2026, 5p.m. Submit a separate form for each entry; up to four entries (one per category) are allowed. Multiple submissions may be emailed together or provided on a jump drive (jump drive may be taken to City Hall located at 302 S. Madison Avenue).

The contest is a people’s choice contest and winners will be determined by the combined total of photo “likes, loves, or wows” across social media platforms. The public can view and vote for their favorites on the City of Douglas Facebook @cityofdouglasgagovernment and Instagram pages @cityofdouglasgagov. Winners will be determined by the combined total of photo “likes, loves, or wows” on the original post across both platforms by April 25, 2026, 5 p.m. Each category (4 total) will include a first‑place winner and a runner-up. Category winners will receive a certificate. Overall Best Image will receive a $100 prepaid Visa card; overall 1st place will receive a $50 prepaid Visa card; and overall 2nd place will receive a $25 prepaid Visa card.  All category-winning photos will be printed and displayed at City Hall through July 31, 2026.
