[ARCHIVED] BIKES, BLUES, AND BBQ FESTIVAL THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY - RAIN OR SHINE!

The Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Festival will be held in Douglas on Friday, March 28 and on Saturday, March 29, RAIN OR SHINE! This outdoor event will feature all types of event vendors relating to arts & crafts, food, motorcycles, BBQ, aviation and more! Activities will include a BBQ Competition, NAPA/Brooks Auto Car Show, Motorcycle Show, Poker Run, displays of vintage aircraft, and live Blues Bands.

Festivities will begin at 1pm on Friday, March 28th, at the Douglas Municipal Gene Chambers Airport on 441 South. General vendors, arts & craft vendors, and food vendors will be eager to meet participants as they enjoy the festivities. A Nascar simulator, zip-line, pony rides, the Monster Truck, “Sykotic”, petting zoo, and other activities will be available for enjoyment. The WWII Flight Training Museum will be open both days for the public to step back in time to World War II when cadets were training on the grounds. Attendees will also be able to see the Warbirds on display at the Vintage and General Aviation Aircraft exhibit Friday and Saturday.

A full entertainment lineup will begin at 6pm as blues music will fill the air until 10:30pm. The entertainment lineup on Friday night will be “Blues Alley” from 6pm-7pm, followed by “Victor Wainwright and the Memphis Wildhorns” at 7:30pm and to close the night, the headliner band, “Nighthawks”, will be onstage at 9pm.

On Saturday, March 29th, smoke will fill the air as the Douglas BBQ Cook-off begins before the Festival opens to the public at 9am. Teams from all over Georgia will be competing in the first GBA sanctioned cook-off. Stop by and visit with the teams as they compete to cook pork loin, pulled pork and ribs.

Saturday will offer a full day of exciting events beginning at 9am with the first bike out for the Poker Run. Poker Run registration will take place from 8am-10am. Poker Run hands are $10 with each additional hand being $5 per hand. Prizes will include cash for 1st place in each category, trophies and event shirts. Registration for the Motorcycle Show will be from 9am-11am and is FREE to all entries. Judging begins 11am-2pm with winners being announced at 3:30pm from the Blues Entertainment Stage. Prizes will include cash for 1st place in each category, trophies and event shirts. There will also be a Motorcycle Show and motorcycle games in the Motorcycle area. Don’t miss your chance to purchase a raffle ticket for the chance to win a Cynergy Cargo Trailer. The Cynergy Cargo trailer is valued at approximately $2800. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from at the tent located in the Motorcycle Show area or from festival volunteers. While purchasing a ticket for the cargo trailer, attendees should also purchase a ticket for the 50/50 drawing. Tickets for the 50/50 drawing will be $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.

Also on Saturday, car enthusiasts will not want to miss the NAPA/Brooks Auto Parts Car Show. The car show will feature classic antique cars as well as other makes and models. Persons wishing to participate in the Car Show should contact Ray Kight at 912-384-7818 or 912-393-4309. Registration for the car show will be on Saturday, March 29, 9am-11am with fees being $15 per car and $10 for each additional entry. Judging begins 11am-2pm with winners being announced at 3:30pm from the Blues Entertainment Stage. Prizes will awarded for Peoples’ Choice, Top 20 in Show, best paint, best interior, and best engine. Prizes will include trophies and cash for the best of winners, along with Dash plaques for the first 60 entries. All entries will be registered for door prizes.

On Saturday, entertainment will begin at 10:00am with “Brandon Barfield” onstage. “Daddy Mack’s Blues Band” will perform at 11am, followed by the “EG Kight Band” at 12:30pm. Attendees will not want to miss the Saturday headliner band, “Moreland & Arbuckle” on stage from 2pm to 3:30pm. The Danny’s Pizza and Southern Eagle Brews Tent will be open at 10am for persons 21 years of age and older. The WWII Flight Training Museum will be open to the public both days.
