At 3:30 p.m. a new permanent exhibit regarding the history of Urban Renewal will be unveiled, honoring the many achievements of Urban Renewal Director Wendell Sears.
“February is a time when we honor black history,” says Central Services Director, Georgia Henderson. “Therefore, it is the perfect time to honor some individuals by adding them to our Wall of Notable African-American Achievers. I invite the whole community to come out and celebrate with us.”
“I am excited that Heritage Station Museum will be adding a new exhibit honoring the history of Urban Renewal and of Urban Renewal Director Wendell Sears,” says Mayor Jackie Wilson. “Wendell Sears and the Urban Renewal program changed the face of our community, providing improved housing conditions, land for retail and industrial development, and opportunity for all.”
