[ARCHIVED] FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS CHRISTMAS PARADE THEME

The City of Douglas has decided on the theme for this year’s Festival of Lights Christmas Parade. The theme will be “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” The annual parade will be on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.

“The Twelve Days of Christmas is one of the classic songs of the Christmas season,” says Georgia Henderson, Central Services Director. “I can’t wait to see how entries will interpret the song with their float design. Douglas is sure to see partridges, turtle doves, ladies dancing, lord’s a leaping, and drummer’s drumming all along the parade route.”

On Saturday, December 3rd, festivities will begin at 3:30pm in downtown Douglas at Atkinson Plaza with Music on Main Street until 5:30pm. At 6:00pm, the 5K Run and Walk will begin along the parade route. The Annual Festival of Lights Parade will light up Peterson Avenue at 6:30pm and make its way from the Courthouse to the Pre-K Academy.
