[ARCHIVED] DOUGLAS FIRE DEPARTMENT HOSTS TOYS FOR TOTS TOY DRIVE

As many people are busy marking off their shopping lists and preparing for celebrations with their family and friends, the Douglas Fire Department is in high hopes that people will add one more toy to the list for a hopeful child. The Douglas Fire Department has teamed with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to hosting a toy drive. Toys can be for boys and girls, up to age 11. All toys should be new and unwrapped.

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity is the fund raising, funding and support organization for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and provides support in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at any of the City of Douglas Fire Stations, the Police Department, City Hall, or Central Square Complex. Deadline to drop off toys will be Monday, December 19th. At this time, more toys are needed for girls than boys, but, all toys will be accepted.
