[ARCHIVED] CITY OF DOUGLAS OFFICES TRANSITIONING TO THE NEW CITY HALL

In February 2021, offices inside City Hall were relocated throughout Douglas for renovations to occur on City Hall. Beginning February 20, 2023, those offices began the transition back to City Hall located at 302 S. Madison Avenue.

Current offices that are located inside the new City Hall include the Mayor, Commission, City Manager, Human Resources, and Finance. Citizens with appointments with elected officials or the City Manager, looking to apply for a job in person, or inquiring about accounts payable/receivable should now visit offices located at the 302 S. Madison Avenue location. 

On Friday, February 24, 2023, the Customer Service Center will be closed to move to the new City Hall. The offices of the City Clerk, Customer Care Center, Billing, Collections, and Meter Reading divisions will also be closed due to moving to the new City Hall. Beginning Monday, February 27, 2023, the Customer Service Center offices will re-open at City Hall and customers wishing to pay a utility bill, request utility services, or make changes to utility services will go to the new City Hall located at 302 S. Madison Avenue.

The Community Development Department will begin its transition into the new City Hall beginning the week of February 27, 2023. The offices of Animal Control, Code Enforcement, and Building Permits/Inspections will be moved at the beginning of the week followed by the Administration, Grants, Planning, and Public Information divisions. All offices located at the Ashley-Slater House will be relocated to the new City Hall by Friday, March 10, 2023. Beginning March 13, citizens and customers wishing to pay for their business license, seek grant information, and request inspections or zoning requests should go to the new offices located at City Hall, 302 S. Madison Avenue.

City Commission meetings will return to the City Hall Council Room beginning Monday, March 13, 2023, at 6 PM. At times, phones may be unanswered and citizens are encouraged to remain patient as this transition is underway. For more information, please call (912)384-3302.
