[ARCHIVED] CITY OF DOUGLAS STORM DEBRIS PICK-UP

Due to the impact of debris left by Hurricane Irma, the City of Douglas leaf and limb debris pick up is not on its regular schedule.  The Public Works Department is focusing on storm debris beginning with large piles first, then working to the smaller piles.  Citizens are asked to be patient during the City’s cleanup efforts, as the pick-up process may take longer than normal and possibly up to several weeks. Citizens can help with the cleanup process by clearing storm debris from their yards and placing by the road as soon as possible.

When placing storm debris, citizens should make sure it is placed in the properly.  Debris must be placed out of the right of way and debris cannot be picked up on private property.  Debris is limited to leaf, limb and vegetation which includes trees, limbs, straw, etc.  Tree debris must be cut into 8 foot lengths or shorter.  Debris piles MAY NOT contain stumps, root balls, household garbage, brown/white goods, nor construction material.  If any material that is not allowed is in a pile of debris, the debris pile will not be picked up.  Pick up of debris that is not allowed should be scheduled for pick up by calling, the Public Works Department at 912-389-3450, prior to October 6, 2017.
