The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee and the City of Douglas would like to invite citizens to volunteer to help clean up city streets by picking up litter and other debris during the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, April 22, 2023, 9:00AM – 11:30AM. Volunteers are needed and this is a great opportunity for clubs, organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals to roll up their sleeves and earn community service hours by making Douglas beautiful.
Great American Cleanup participants should arrive at City Hall (302 S. Madison Avenue) between 8:45AM and 9:00AM for registration. Groups will journey to the following streets as identified by the yearly Litter Index: N. June Avenue, Wynn Avenue, Alunza Street, and N. Pearl Avenue. Cleanup will take place at 9AM and last until 11:30AM. At the end of the cleanup, volunteers will receive complimentary Tidwell Carter’s Fried Chicken and Chick-Fil-A vouchers.
According to the Keep American Beautiful website, the Great American Cleanup® is celebrating its 25th year and annually engages more than 500,000 volunteers and participants, whose work returns, on average, more than $100 million in measurable benefits across more than thousands of participating communities.
Special thanks to Tidwell Carter's Fried Chicken and Chick-Fil-A for their support. To volunteer or for more information, call Christian at (912)383-0277, Dinitra Williams at (912)331-9398, or email cmikell@cityofdouglasga.gov.
